Blog change…
•February 20, 2007 • 4 CommentsIt is still being set up, but in the near future, I will soon have another blog address. I bought and am hosting kevinnisly.com from\at from bluehost.com Right now they suspended my account, just because I used a US debit card from a third world country. The address and phone number checked out and everything, but still they aren’t convinced. How irrational is that?!
Not much happening so far this week, the bookstore has been really quiet, (which for a change, is cool), and I have lots of time to spend on school, and my favorite school subject. – Which happens to be The Dreamweaver 8 Bible by Joseph W. Lowery. Basically a exhaustive book on web development. (its like over 1100 pages.) Still learning the basic stuff, but still fascinating.
A really cool thing, and i mean REALLY COOL, is that at the park where we play vball they now have a bunch of lights set up. Theres like no comparison to how it was before. The lights that were there before were stolen, so i suppose its only a matter of time until history repeats itself. Still, fingers crossed.

Tues. evening service
•February 14, 2007 • 6 CommentsSo its a normal Tues. night church service. We listen to a interesting topic about the early Christian martyrs. Then after the announcements we have to decide what the youth are doing next since on Sunday we finished the book we were studying. So far the suggestions are:
1) Youth have their own class together, and either study a book of the bible, or some other book.
2) Youth are split into guys\gals and each have their own class.
Nearly everyone had commented that their preference would be #2 beforehand, so I was rather surprise when Gama suddenly spur of the moment changes his mind.
“Why don’t the youth take over teaching the little kids classes so that the married ladies who are teaching them now can be in with the adult class”. In all reality its not a bad idea, very generous. Gama just failed to see where it would take him.
So Dad says alright, lets vote on the three ideas. Of course with the help of the married ladies, Gama’s suggestion winds by a land-slide.
Alright says Dad, “lets have nominatio-” “GAMA” says Marta, followed by a very voiced approval from the rest of the youth group. Gama goes on to be elected as teacher for the class with about a dozen toddlers. The worst class, just because of the extreme difficulty in maintaining order.
So all in all, the best part is that I personally, along with the rest of the youth group that isn’t teaching a children’s class, will get to sit in on the adult class…. – which right now is studying the role of the wife in marriage.

New Paypal Promotion
•February 8, 2007 • 3 CommentsPaypal has a new promotion, where if you spend $30 or more in one purchase at any store which accepts it, including eBay between February 8 and March 31, you will receive $15 back.
It is a legit offer, and would seem to me as too good an offer to pass up.
As I was writing this, i was hit with the brilliant idea that I could sell some kind of item on ebay for $30 from my dads account, and I buy it, send $30 to him, and I receive $15. Then I could list a item with my account and buy it from his. My $30 back, and $30 profit. I would never do something like that of course, no – that would be unethical.
Still 50% off on already cheap ebay, not bad.
Monday
•February 5, 2007 • 3 CommentsWell today I arranged the 1.4 tons of books I got last week into our minuscule bookstore. Lots of work, but now that thats done, the bookstore somehow seems more manageable. Last weekend was great, totally great. The SS youth went to the beach Fri. and came back Sat. afternoon. The whole time was fun, everything from playing in the pools to the card games, from the jokes that were played to the meals that were consumed, from the late night-early morning coffee to the sunset. We went out to the beach around midnight, walked the beach and played in the waves some. There was a nice full moon. Eventually we went to sleep around 1:30-2:00. We rented 2 cabins, fully equipped with showers and air conditioners. Me and Daniel woke up around 6:00 and headed to the beach. The waves were awesome, just awesome! It was defiantly high tide, big waves relatively close to shore. By far the biggest waves I’ve ever surfed.
I quickly learned that with the big waves, you want to actually ride them, in other words you want to be on top of them as they “break”. That way it pushes you in front of it. It is a bad, bad, bad idea to wait underneath the wave, seeing it break right before it gets to you and idly observe as it bears down on you. In that situation it will not push you in to shore, but rather, in my experience, more often then not you would be twirled around like a spinning top, hit the bottom with a thud. If your lucky you can at that point stand up, regain your bearings, clear your eyes and get ready for the next wave. Not always is one this lucky. At least once in such a situation my head was very heartily slammed down to the bottom. You learn this the hard way, but usually its good to practice hands(heads) off at times like this.
2 random cellphone pics… the first being one of the vans we left in going to the beach, the other is the new coffee set up i have in my room.

Studying
•January 29, 2007 • 6 CommentsToday is the day that I start studying. Hoo-hum… In fact I should be going over my books instead of writing this. Yet I have my priorities right, It is far more important to stay in touch with my cousins then to stress over school.
In unrelated news that totally goes well with schooling, the big fancy downstairs coffee peculator is getting promoted to my room. Sheri has her own in her room, Dad just drinks decaf cappuccino, Karlin isn’t allowed much caffeine if any,and Mom has vowed to go on a coffee fast so to speak.
After being lied to by 3 agencies that are not working together, I think the books are really almost ready to come out of “aduanas”. It’ll be awesome when I can go pick them up, and stop worrying about it. Its such a pain.
I’ve been translating these last few church services for LaVernes, Glenn’s. What it involves is hearing a Sermon in Spanish then typing it out in English. I think its good for me, you really can’t put your brain in “neutral”. There is a big difference in people also. Its generally a bad idea to translate literally word for word, because of the difference in culture and subtle meanings that don’t get properly conveyed if its translated word for word. Thats where the fun is.

Living a (more) normal life
•January 25, 2007 • 4 CommentsLife has been slowing down considerably. We had a great time when LaVerne’s were here, but now that they are gone, life has slowed down. And its probably best it did. You can’t live like we were living long term.
Today I had a bit of a scare when a man came to the bookstore and said, “my employer sent me, he wants a few random books and 2 parcels of money. I got him the books he wanted, then was about ready to tell him that theres no way I was going to give him money, his employer called and said what he wanted was 2 pamphlets called “my money”(they have to do with proper spending and saving etc). I grinned at him and said no problem. Speaking of which we set up a video camera outside the door, unfortunately I wasn’t able to set it up in such a way that people outside of the network can see it.
I still have about six scratches on my arm from the last night LVs were here. Me and Loyal “wrestled”.

A fascinating utility
•January 21, 2007 • 1 CommentIts a lazy Sunday afternoon, inspiration runs high. I come across a wonderful utility that promises to save effort, time and money for all who use it. I create a new post primarily to advertise it, add a link for it, and quickly log off to sleep.
The final days
•January 20, 2007 • Leave a CommentEvery day brings us closer to the day LaVerne’s fly back to the states. Therefor we are making the most out of the few days we have left, putting sleep aside. A prime example would be last night. We started playing around 10PMish, played 4 games of hearts. [Just thought I'd mention I won 2 of those games, and shot the moon 4 times. Unfortunatly, and I'm pretty sure my teamates would agree with me on this one, I was able to shoot because of their somewhat random stupidity and not soo much because of my personal brilliance.] We finished hearts at around 2:30AM, and decided what we needed to relax and be able to sleep was a nice game of Monopoly. So we played a game of that, official rules. Needless to say Sheri played with a iron fist, and wiped the floor with the rest of us, but it was still a good games because it was what we needed to be able to sleep. It also may have helped that we finished around 4:20. Then today I got up at around 8:30 to go to a work related youth function. There is some dificulty in getting everyone woke up and ready to go. About today, I’m fairly certain one of the highlights will be killing chickens and eating lunch.
I’m tired.
•January 18, 2007 • 2 CommentsSo this won’t be a long post. It is merely to inform you of what has been happening recently. Yesterday, Wednesday, we went to the beach. A few interesting things happened that day. One of them being that as I was driving over to borrow some surf boards from a friends house, a pickup in front of me left the road on a corner, headed up a very steep grassy hill, and then very casually flipped over on its side. All this was done at about 25-30Km/h. The guy driving it got out through the window, not hurt at all. He must of been quite talented. The actual beach was like the best I’ve seen it in all my career. The water was actually clean. Very amazing. The waves were very adequate for the surfing we wanted to do, so that worked out well. Us guys ended up grilling the steak we had taken along. Need I mention it was awsome?
Then today, Thursday we drove up to a little place we call “Laguna Verde.” Its a quiet place, very relaxing. The main problem was that we weren’t there to relax. So we ended up climbing the surrounding mountain ridge, and took pictures of Loyal (who incidentally had a shirt that looked as if he had slobbered on it, so the pics will no doubt turn out great). I really don’t know why he needed pictures really, since he has this great picture.
Oh, and did I mention I’m tired? I drove quite a bit today, about 200 miles to be exact, alot of it on steep mountain + very bad roads.
Anyway here are some aerial picture of the Laguna Verde that I stole from this site.
