Monday

Well today I arranged the 1.4 tons of books I got last week into our minuscule bookstore. Lots of work, but now that thats done, the bookstore somehow seems more manageable. Last weekend was great, totally great. The SS youth went to the beach Fri. and came back Sat. afternoon. The whole time was fun, everything from playing in the pools to the card games, from the jokes that were played to the meals that were consumed, from the late night-early morning coffee to the sunset. We went out to the beach around midnight, walked the beach and played in the waves some. There was a nice full moon. Eventually we went to sleep around 1:30-2:00. We rented 2 cabins, fully equipped with showers and air conditioners. Me and Daniel woke up around 6:00 and headed to the beach. The waves were awesome, just awesome! It was defiantly high tide, big waves relatively close to shore. By far the biggest waves I’ve ever surfed.
I quickly learned that with the big waves, you want to actually ride them, in other words you want to be on top of them as they “break”. That way it pushes you in front of it. It is a bad, bad, bad idea to wait underneath the wave, seeing it break right before it gets to you and idly observe as it bears down on you. In that situation it will not push you in to shore, but rather, in my experience, more often then not you would be twirled around like a spinning top, hit the bottom with a thud. If your lucky you can at that point stand up, regain your bearings, clear your eyes and get ready for the next wave. Not always is one this lucky. At least once in such a situation my head was very heartily slammed down to the bottom. You learn this the hard way, but usually its good to practice hands(heads) off at times like this.

2 random cellphone pics… the first being one of the vans we left in going to the beach, the other is the new coffee set up i have in my room.
